PrEPVacc features in BBC’s 'Focus on Africa'

Reporter Esau Williams interviewed Professor Pontiano Kaleebu, PrEPVacc’s Chief Investigator for the BBC World Service’s ‘Focus on Africa’ programme.

Prof Kaleebu, Director of the MRC/UVRI & LSHTM Uganda Research Unit, told Focus on Africa that PrEPVacc was a new HIV vaccine trial and the first of its kind in the East Africa region.

He said Esau Williams, “We’re very excited about this”, but cautioned, “HIV is not as simple as Covid in terms of developing a vaccine.”
